About BCI

The Bench to Community Initiative (BCI) is a community-based participatory research (CBPR) project that continues the conversation about endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and breast cancer risk, which began as part of a previous CBPR project entitled Is the Cost of Beauty Putting Black Women at Risk? (The Cost of Beauty, COB). BCI builds on the findings from the COB to understand the impact of EDCs on diverse breast cancer cell lines and develop community interventions for Black people focused on behavior change and advocacy.
